The Assomotor Honda outfit were committed to travelling to the final round of the 2019 FIM Motocross World Championship –the Grand Prix of China – and put everything in place to do exactly that. The Italian squad suffered a blow this week though, as Brent Van Doninck was told that he had to take some time off to recover from the head injury that he sustained back at the Grand Prix of Belgium and Mathys Boisrame reportedly pulled out due to an illness.
There is a slight chance that Boisrame will lose a position to Mitch Evans this weekend, but he has secured a top-ten ranking in the final championship standings no matter what happens. Boisrame is expected to change colours ahead of the new season and is heavily linked to a green seat. Van Doninck will probably drop down to eighteenth in the points after this weekend – Alvin Ostlund and Mitchell Harrison are expected to leap past him.
With Boisrame supposedly moving on and Van Doninck too old for the MX2 class, it is currently unknown what the Assomotor outfit will do in 2020. There is a great group of riders to choose from though, including their current EMX250 rider Stephen Rubini and capable guys like Dylan Walsh.
